Human Security Report 2005

World experienced 25 armed conflicts in different parts of the world in 2004,the lowest number since 1976, there has been a decrease at large scale nearly 40 percent in the number of war and conflicts since the early 1990s,says the recently documented “Human Security Report 2005”, a new multi-government report.
The report inform us more that there is also a 80 percent decrease in the number of mass killings, UN diplomatic missions to handle armed crisis were as high as six times between 1990 and 2002, and there had been a significant increase in the number of civil conflicts resolved.

So, planet Earth today is more secure and peaceful place to live, if such is the situation in reality as described in the report, then for “us”, the peace lovers and workers around the world it is the time to “celebrate”. But for a moment when bitter facts like the daily death toll in Iraq, Iran receiving threats daily and delivering the same, Israel-Palestine crisis still claiming lives, Afghanistan still smoking, Sudan and Congo problems not all solved yet, no solution towards North Korean issue, Sri Lanka facing fresh waves of violence, riots in France, suicide attacks more common and wide spread (from Bali to Amman), increase of billions in global defense budget annually, strike the conscience hard, the heart then not gets convince to “celebrate”. Does your heart permit you to celebrate?

PLATFORM's Report

PLATFORM, a London based charity focused on oil’s social and environmental impact recently issued a report revealing that “Under the influence of the US and UK, power politicians and technocrats in the Iraqi oil ministry are pushing to hand all Iraq’s undeveloped oil companies to be developed under “production sharing agreements”.
Greg Muttit, an analyst at PLATFORM and author of the report says “The key US-UK energy security priority is secure control over an increasing supply of Gulf oil”.
According to the report, Iraq may suffer a loss of billions by losing control over its oil fields, the loss from production sharing agreement can amount to 2,800$ to 4,700$ per Iraqi adult over the 30 year life span.

So simply, it was “oil” and not Saddam.

Support Sri Lanka

Liberation Tigers of Tamil Ealam(LTTE) completely boycotted the presidential polls on Thursday,17 Nov:2005. Residents of Jaffna district,mostly controlled by the Tamil Tigers,stayed home and streets were deserted,only 1,700 votes casted with in the population of 700,000.
Tamil Tigers quest for a separate home land for their minority Tamils,Buddhist Sinhalese majority rules out any such option.Nearly 65,000 people killed in a two decade long war between LTTE and Sri Lankan troops,halted in 2002 after a peace deal.
The deal is in danger now,with start of sporadic violence in the region taking many lives. Fresh start of a full flow war can completely ruin the lives of poor Sri Lankans,and socio-economic structure of the small Island already severly destroyed by Tsunami,cannot afford any more damage,the need is now that the world must take serious note of this festering problem and become active to achieve a lasting peace solution for the region.
Pilgrims of Peace Org: appeals to the world leaders ,UN officials and peace organizations to seriously consider about the present fresh wave of violence in Sri Lanka before it burns the entire Island once again.

Newly elected Sri Lankan President,Mr.Mahinda Rajapakse issued a fresh invitation to Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam(LTTE) to talk and revive the peace deal. LTTE on the other hand asked for a more practical deal from the Pressident and end of all acts of discrimination against minority Tamils,and if not they will resume "freedom struggle" for a separate Tamil home land next year.
At this moment, it is very necessary for us,the peace lovers and workers around the world to urge and support both parties to consummate the issue through peace talks and promote the peace process and progress in the tiny Island.

Like Mr.George Bush,Iranian President Mr.Mahmoud Ahmadinejad too strongly believes he is on the right path,and acts like "wiping off Israel from the map of the world" will be a right act and according to God's will.The views,thoughts and acts of Mr.Ariel Sharon,Israeli leader are not different.Israeli leadership always believed,respected and worked for God's will of "Greater Israel",doesn't matter if such "holy will" is fulfilled at the cost of rest of the world.
Unfortunately; drowned in the deep swamps of Nationalism and Patriotism,most of theWorld leaders are obliged to follow such "sacred paths",that lead them and their Nations to the heights of (haunted)heavens and provides them the (putrid)providence.
Since eons humanity is deceitfully divided not only by so called leaders of past and present,but religious priests,cooperate powers(mafia)were(are)also the main players in the arena.They successfully suppressed the warm spirits of sacrifice,serenity and sympathy and provoked the powers of hate,anger and terror among us.It is a very bitter fact that never in the known history of mankind,humanity had united at a global scale,though there are many examples of unity between the groups or nations to fight and destroy other groups or nations in the name of God,Nation and Color.
Today,alongwith such "powerful pretenders" there exists another truth "we",the "silent truth"."We" believe in Peace,Equality of humanity,and welfare of world."We" respect life,"we" can feel the pain and share it,"we" are in millions,present in every part of the planet,even in USA,Israel and Iran."We",one day will change the destiny of world like Rosa Parks,on 1st December1955 changed the destiny of Blacks in North America.
Remember Mr.Bush,Mr.Mahmoud,Mr.Sharon dignity is not in destruction,salvation is not in following sacerdotal Dogmas,but is in " sharing the pain",this is the only truth,the "ultimate truth".

When Mountains Ragged

8 October morning,8.48 AM, Iqbal aged 5 was in school,Fatima,18 years was attending Botany class in her college,Zohra,33 cleaning her kitchen,Murad,45 dealing customers in his bakery.
8.50 AM,earth jolted,a sudden complete silence,all voices vanished in the thunder of huge Himalayan mountains.
8.51 AM,in a matter of moment,it was all ruined,nothing left behind,only cries of death.Iqbal,Fatima,Murad,Zohra,and thousands more were burried deep in the huge concrete,iron structures,no one was there to listen the cries of those still alive.
On the day a devastating tragedy hit Northern Pakistan,killing more than 51,000(official figure,unofficial figures are much higher)and injuring more than 79,000(official figure).Nearly 3.5 million people are now shelter less,facing bitter himalayan winter,hunger, disease,and a no brighter future.
Even after two weeks,the relief efforts in many remote areas are at very low level,no transportation available for these areas,as long stretches of many roads disappeared under massive landslides.
Local and International communities are now at the relief work,International community pledged an aid of 600 million $,but termed as "totally in adequate "by President Pervez Musharraf. He and his team estimated reconstruction needs of 5 billion $. UN emergency coordinator Jan Egeland,described the situation as unprecedented in scale,appealed for a huge help and called for a "second Berlin airlift" type action.Turkish prime minister Tayyap Erdogan,the first foriegn leader to visit the disaster area,made a donations of 150 million $,and asked International Leaders to do more.
This is no doubt a huge disaster,not only for the people of Pakistan but for the entire humanity too,we,as mankind are no doubt divided by many vicious circles,but the ultimate truth is that we are "same",breathing in the "same flow"of time,living on the "same planet".

The World's Social Status

Jose Antonio Ocampo,Under Secretary General of the UN department of Economics and Social affairs introduced a new report"The World Social Situation:The Inequality Predicament" on Thursday,25 Aug:2005.
The Highlights of the report are as follows:
1.Globalisation driving inequality.
2.The World is more polarised today than it was 10 years ago.
3.Most pervasive form of inequality is gender discrimination.
4.Alarming increase in the discrepancies between rich and poor,rich have become richer and the poor even poorer.
5.In Sub-Saharan Africa,90 million is the no:of new people who are now facing the status"Poor" in just a decade.In Latin America in 7 years(1995-2002) unemployment rose from 6.5% to 9%.
6.Afro-descendent population earn an average of 35 to 65% less than white man.
7.Less than one billion people living in the developed world using 80% of World's domestic products,while remaining 20% is shared by more than five billion people belonging to developing nations.
8.The progress towards the UN's"Millennium Development Goal"(MDG's)is very low.
The Under Secretary also told the reporters"Failure to address this inequality predicament will insure that social injustice and better living conditions for all people remain elusive...............that can lead to further social instability in the World for which every one will have to pay the price".
This report clearly reveals that we,the mankind as a social being are not improving our social behaviour and structure with the time,we are just in a "still" position.
Our global social structure and status cannot be improved by the acts of formality,there is a need of a revolutionary step,a step that creates a peaceful,global wave of sincerity and sympathy,this wave again cannot be produced by our governments,huge bodies like UN or social sector NGOs,they no doubt can make things better,but for a major change in our social behaviour worldwide a long,dedicated and genuine effort is needed by those who really believe in simplicity,sincerity,unity and "respect for life".
This is the law of Nature(proved by history),this is the call of the Time.

New Chains of Slavery

The Dark Continent,facing a new shape of slavery,the "Debt Slavery".In the poor African continent,33 countries are the victim of the category of HIPC(Highly Indebted Poor Countries),presently burdened with more than 300$ billion in foreign debt,a huge amount impossible to be paid for next half century by poor Africans in their present socio-economic status.
In recent meetings of G-7 in London,steps taken to provide"debt relief"to Africa are termed as "historic opportunity"by the rich leaders,it is not as such in fact,only 14 African countries will benefit by cancellation of a 40$ billion debt,owing to World Bank,IMF,and ADB(African Development Bank).
In reality,Africa in spite of all such "historic opportunities",efforts like "live 8 concerts",progressive plans by United Nations Economic Commission,is dying under the huge debt burden.A very simple step for saving lives in dying Africa can be"provide aid for the"poor" and not for "gains".

Paragon of Pain

A shivering cold night,I was wandering aimlessly in search of nothingness,on the empty,frozen streets of Skardu,a small town in the lap of K2.
Midnight moon embedded in cotton clouds started gazing me,its the time for the nest,I thought and with weary steps I was on my way back to the hotel,suddenly rised a strange,weak cry from a dark corner of the empty street,I ignored and moved ahead but the strange cry again broke the silence of the night,hesitated I moved towards the cry,saw a small structure lying motionless.It was a small puppy,frailed,weak,struggling for survival.
There was nothing I could do,but to take the poor pariah to the hotel,provide some food,heat and energy to the languid body of its.
I tooked it up,the moment our eyes met,a chilled wave of terror shocked my entire existence,those eyes were empty,completely Black,no whiteness,no brightness filled with unending darkness.That moment,for me too was Black,completely Black,no light,no sound,flow of time paused,I felt I was out of the Universe,floating in an unending Black hole,since eons.
With a flash that complete vacuum of voice and vision vanished,and the poor puppy breathed its last breath in my lap.
I still remember in my vivid memories,in puppy's black,blind eyes I saw the Paragon of Pain.

Wake up West!

Wake up West!
Another brutal act of terror,claiming many innocent lives,this time in London.On July 7(2005) London was hit by a series of blasts killing more than 50 and injuring hundreds.It is suspected by the British authorities that a previously unknown group tied with AL QAEDA is responsible for the bombing.
AL QAEDA,the master mind organization behind the 9/11 terrorist attacks in US,now have became a symbol of terror in West and for the whole world,what really it is ?
In 1981,USA with co-operation from Egypt,Pakistan and Saudi Arabia,gathered,united and supported many muslim militant"Jihadi" groups in Afghanistan to resist against the communist invasion in the region by Soviet Union,one such group was led by a rich Saudi national "Osama"son of Mr.Laden.
For more than a decade latest military equipments,arms and billions of dollars were provided to these groups by USA and allied countries, and with the end of Soviet occupation all such groups were completly ignored and abadoned by the World,stage was open for these militants,they tooked their weapons against each other,and thus begun a long bloody "Gang War" in the country,Osama and his group any how survived this long civil war and with the complete control of Talibans on the country emerged as the most powerful figure in the country and neighbouring areas,this was the Time the hand made power play started again in the region.Mr.Osama and his well organized group turned into a froward,mutant monster desecrating and threatening its own creator.
Today we,the helpless,poor peace lovers of the world,unfortunately witnessing and experiencing "the Terror and war on Terror"is in fact the story that started with a fallacious and handmade power play between the "Creature and the Creator" the repercussions of this game travelled far wide and deep.Different governments,their different agencies and media both in West and Muslim world ignited the sparking situation,and this conflict of interests between the creature and creator,widely and wildly aflamed with passion,hate and anger.Very sadly and very unfortunately now there is emerging a new evil face of the conflict"Clash of Civilizations",Islam against West and vice versa.The seed of segregation and hate successfully sown,now nearly completly ripened,for many there a"Holy Crusade"or "Jihad" is on.
Today the situation is simply described as the terror and war against it,in fact this is not the complete depiction,it is now "Islamic Fundamentalism v/s Western Radicalism" a very destructive,deceiving conspiracy, against the world.
AL QAEDA and its supporters used the language of terror worldwide,on the other hand in response Western governments under the great influnce of "Corporate Mafia"spoke the same language,Afghanistan and Iraq are the clear examples.
This terrible situation is worsening day by day,inflicting great damage to the world peace and prosperity,creating matter of serious concern for all of us.This the time for West to save the world from disfiguring terror and fatal conspiracy,to move forward in a positive manner,take some staid,wise steps that soothen the souls and minds of muslims and not pierce their bodies.
Mr.Robert Fisk,in one of his very recently published column wrote"It is easy for Tony Blair to call the bombings"barbaric"-of course,they were but what were the civilian deaths of the Anglo American invasion of Iraq in 2003,the children torn apart by cluster bombs,the countless innocent Iraqis gunned down at American Military check points?when they die,it is"collateral damage"when "we" die it is"barbaric terrorism".
The above written lines by English Journalist no doubt provide a reason for serious re-thinking and a reference for reasoned re-consideration about the burning situation and "Combating Terror Policy"for the peace loving,decent, more disciplined and organized people of the West,as in reality,they are the only true source to approach,pressurize and change their governments violent,arrogant agendas.
Wake up West,wake up World,the Terrorists and Conspirators are united,to bring about the failure of unity of humanity,peace of the planet,welfare of the World.
Wake up Friends,this is the time,for us to unite too,to save our Planet,our only home.

The Dark Trade

Last year(2004)world spent only 78.5 billion US$ on aid programs,while 01 trillion US$ was the huge amount spent on war-machines worldwide.
UK,claiming to be among the top countries providing aid to the poor
African nations,in fact is also one of the biggest arms supplier to the
continent,most of the African countries buying these arms are using it
against each other and for their own nationals too.
The annual sale by UK to these poor African countries have now reahed
upto 1 billion pounds.
Department of Trade and Industry(DTI) even granted export licences to
sell military equipments to world's least developed Nation like
Malawi,last year sell to this country was 3.6 million pounds.
Arm sells to the troubled country like Angola was 31 million
pounds,sells to South Africa reached 114 million pounds,to Nigeria was
35 million pounds.
Licences by DTI for arms export were also granted for countries like
Sudan,Eritrea,Ethiopia,Somalia,and Zambia,the most deprived Nations with
very poor Human rights record too.
In the name of commercial trade and export,UK,no doubt is playing a good
role in aiding more darkness to the future of the poor,dark continent.

Work done,responsibility over!

My "Masters" spent 162 US$ for my protection last year(2004,unfortunately,I was not aware of my "Masters'"such great kindness,till yesterday).
Dear Friends,your"Masters"too spended a good amount for defence and protection of each and every one of you(I don't know you are aware of such a act of great kindness by your "Masters" or not).
Yes; according to the newly issued report by"Stockholm International Peace Research Institute(SIPRI),Global military expenditure reached the Trillion(1.035)US$ mark in 2004.The share of USA alone in this spending is more than 47%.So,simply,last year the share of each individual belonging to the "VERY" clever Homosapien species was 162 US$ in this huge Trillion dollar amount.
In such scenario,I find myself unable to understand,where are we standing(at the edge of an end?)what are we doing?
May be this the time and subject to sign or write few more petitions,forwarded some messages like this or at-most participate in a peace rally.Work done,responsibility over.

Tears,Blood and Dollars

The bloody game is still on in Dafur(Sudan).Mr.Kofi Annan described the situation as "Heart Wrenching"after visiting the area and appealled the world for more donations to solve the crisis.African Union(AU)has asked for more than 460 Million US dollars,latest Military equipment and other supplies for its Peace Mission in the region.In this "Heart Wrenching" game,all the players and refrees are busy in the arena,but where are the real "Peace Strugglers"?

Fuelling Terror

According to a new report from the Arms Trade Resource Center based at World Policy Institute,New York,
United States has increased Arms supplies and sales to some of the World's most "Repressive and undemocratic regimes".These supplies are playing a fuelling role in world's burning conflicts like,Uzbekistan,Chad,Angola,Ethiopia,Colombia,Afghanistan.The report also claims that "Foreign Military Fund"(FMF-US's largest military aid program)is now touching the 6.0 Billion dollar mark,mostly provided to the countries where human rights violation is a common practice(and US law prohibits any arms deals with any such country).
So;in situation like this there rises a question in the mind of all those,believing in the welfare of the world that,is "Super Power"ending the terror or fueling it?

United Peace Platform(UPP)

In the very vast cosmos,ours is a very small insignificant planet situated at the outer border of long Orion arm of Milkyway,for us,living beings of this planet,this is the"All"we have.
This planet of ours is the only habitation for nearly six billion Homosapiens and innumerable other living species.
Ours species Homosapien is the most developed species of all and therefore entire responsibilty of developing or destructing the planet remains on our shoulders.
A very interesting but disturbing factor as well is that out of this huge six billion population of mankind,only a very small percent of the entire population(possibly not more than 5%)is earnestly struggling and raising its concern over the World destructive policies,agendas,interests and greed of the mankind.The majority of world population seems quite indisposed towards global issues and problems,bounded and busy in business,work and daily life struggle,nothing to do with other issues.
For example,a sorry picture of our lack of leaning towards most of the global issues emerges when we find that common mass residing in Yining(China)knows very little about whats been happening in Amazon Rain Forest(Brazil),similarly majority of community of Parana(Argentina)donot know much about Timber-Mafia wiping off"Orangutan Chimpanzees"in tropical Indonesia,residents belonging to Saldus(Latvia)know nothing about the miseries of Thari people dying out of drought and TB in Pakistan,even people of Djibe(Burkina)knew very little about recent Asian calamity(Tsunami).We on the same planet are living in our own smaller worlds,very distant to each other.
A good sign of"Human Unity"appeared when USA invaded Iraq and some big rallies were out on the streets in different parts of the world.This sign though good was enfeeble too,main reason was lack of inter-connection between the demonstrations.The organizers and participants of the rally in Washinton DC or London were having no contact with rally organizers in New Delhi or Dhaka and vice-versa.
Every big journey begins with a small first step,every new idealogy only successfully can be drafted by determination,dedication and finally pursuit.It is the call of the time now to take the first step,to consider about creation of"UNITED PEACE PLATFORM(UPP)"to serve as the common-single platform to discuss and deal all the global issues of importance and emergency,for all those struggling individualy or collectively from different platforms for world welfare in different mode and manners,the other purpose of UPP must be to try to involve atleast some more part of that silent majority of world population purely in the subject of"Sharing the Pain of Planet".
With such a global impassive mood and behaviour of ours,there exists a need of gradual change in our common attitude towards world problems and issues.Importance of creating a new wave of Realisation and Responsibility no longer can be ignored and creation of UPP can be the first such step taken by the common mass to provide power to Peace and Unity.
